But hes "authentic"

authenticity doesn’t require a background in serfdom

it requires a consistency between the person’s true self and his words/actions

Remember when Trump Loyalists were all over Meatball for Harvard and Yale?

It'll be interesting when they start pretending to like Ramaswamy.

It does when you pretend that you have that background.

Depends on how one defines growing up in money.

Sounds like his parents weren't poor by any means but not exactly shitting gold bars.

Here we go with Ukraine.

I think he is arse backwards in thinking that he can breakup Russia and China. They are linked together in every single way possible. There is no breaking that up. I also want to know how he plans on getting Ukraine to accept ceding territory to Russia. They will not do that. I suppose he could threaten to withhold money and arms but what does that tell Russia and China? It tells them that we will quit if the going gets tough and that’s very problematic moving forward. He’s negotiating from a position of weakness here but he doesn’t see it that way.

They already do because;

1-He isn't DeSantis.
2-Trump hasn't said anything bad about him yet.

This is the point I was trying to make when Trump fans bring up the 24 hours thing. There is no easy way out of this. I don't think DeSantis even knows what to do.

Having two parents become educated and earn their way through hard work to be upper middle class isn’t “coming from money” in the context of DC and the people he is running against

“Coming from money” to me, in the context of where he is speaking, is being born to connected multimillionaires with a silver spoon who are are part of “the club”

I personally think he’s incredible. What a fine speech but his take on how to neuter the FBI and institute massive government layoffs was brilliant. Love the guy. He’s the real deal.

As a fellow millennial, he hits the nail on the head.

I don't mean as a way to take cheap shots at DeSantis. I mean when they start pretending that he's a real contender to draw from DeSantis.

Then he should've said his parents didn't come from money. Unless of course they did...

He also had $15 million dollars by the time he graduated college. He clearly came from money.

He freaks me out. He says everything a conservative would ever want to hear but it just doesn't seem authentic. He's a polished politician.

I think most people would take someone who was raised in a household that almost certainly be in the top 1-3% of income would say thats a silver spoon.

I mean its not Donald Trump silver spoon but its not like "his dad was a mailman"

Why are you so hung up on this?

Ok, I’ll play.

Relative to the rest of the world and all of history EVERY SINGLE AMERICAN alive today is part of the upper 1% of the richest people ever. So do you come from money, do I?

What’s the magic number to be “coming from money”?

I think some people would say what 99% of America would consider a lie is inauthentic. You for some reason dont.

I think being in a household of the 1-2% income in the richest country in the world and comfortably going to a private school growing up, private college, private law school would be designated "coming from money".
