An Islamic monarchy / theocracy is still authoritarian- hence leftist.
The government is unanswerable to the people. The government decides what policies to implement, and the citizenry has no option to push back other than to overthrow that government. Those policies could be implementing a state religion, or an economic system etc., as long as the government has TOTAL control. Monarchies, Theocracies, Dictatorships, and Oligarchies are all left of center. Constitutional Monarchies, Constitutional Republics, and Democracies are right of center.
