I addressed the topic at hand with mine. You did not.
That was easy.

The connection still remains, nonetheless. Can't fault the guy for having an exceptional legal team. My statement stands.

Here's a novel idea. Instead of trying to extract more tax dollars out of anyone, they figure out how to use what they're already getting more efficiently.
When you're $32 trillion in debt, you have to do both.

Liberals think it's a zero sum game
"Conservatives" think borrowing and spending is better than taxing and spending - probably because they're profiting from public debt.

You want to punish someone
Don't project, I'm not looking to punish anyone. I'm thinking we need to raise more revenue at the same time that we reduce spending.

Who are you quoting? Are you trying to make it look like I said that? That I didn't kind of makes you look like a liar.

And I'm betting you're against inheritance taxes.

Ah yes, the perfect is the enemy of the good approach to governance. Because no one tax can ever fully redress the massive costs that older generations are imposing on future ones, we shouldn’t even bother making things incrementally better. Classic.
What? Who said that? The estate tax was never intended to be a revenue generator. And it still isn’t. Increasing the estate tax is simply making death a more taxable event. No conservative ever would say that.

it affects the only the top .1% and they never pay taxes to begin with
This is idiotic. The top .1% likely produces 20% of revenue. Is that fair to you?

There’s a difference between taxing someone who is actively producing out of 90% of their earnings and taxing heirs of 59%
The top income tax rate right now is 40.6 percent. Nobody is getting their income taxed at 90 percent.

Conservative will always fight for the people that have their thumbs on them. Be it woke corporations, Israel, or police.

Personally, I don't like an inheritance tax at all, but the floor on the federal tax NOW is $13 million. If he is just suggesting lowering it to $11.4 million, it is hardly a radical proposal.
As it stands, the exemption will be cut in half Dec 31, 2025.

The last person I discussed this with (bonds maybe?) thought the exemption limit was a relatively new thing and only got instituted after Steinbrenner died.
Not true. In 2009 Congress failed to pass a new bill, which resulted in an unlimited exemption in 2010.

So people who know how the world works want to tax the poor?
48 percent of the country doesn’t pay any income tax. What percentage of revenue do you think the top .1% should pay?

Not a big deal since no one here hits that $12.6 million threshold.
That isn’t even the correct threshold.

You're obviously on the wrong board lol we have never had a taxes too low problem. We have a permanent DC class staying permanent by giving away money to their constituents, it's as easy as that.

So conservatives don’t support paying off their debts? Conservatives are in favor of taking out a second credit card for the purpose of paying off the first, costs be damned? Because I’ve always viewed that as far more of a selfish liberal characteristic
As I have posted many times before, the amount we have spent and are ever going to spend on Ukraine wouldn't move the needle the slightest bit on our debt.
All of our foreign aid COMBINED only represents 0.7% of the federal budget. Less than 1%.
Anybody who is serious about cutting spending is talking about cutting something that would make a difference, like SS/Medicare.
You willing to cut those programs? No? I didn't think so. Almost nobody else is either, no matter how "conservative" they are.
And no, that's not "your money." Your money was spent to pay someone else's benefits the second it was collected, and someone else will pay for your benefits. Just like any other welfare entitlement.
Vikek knows this. He knows he can shout, "Muh Ukraine aid," and people who have no idea how little money that represents will bow up. He's playing you like a banjo.
Again, I've posted this many times before, but it's literally like living in a 6,000 square foot home with a $5,000 mortgage and driving Porches with another $2,500 car payment every month but complaining because your wife bought Peter Pan brand peanut butter instead of the generic store brand.

I know. I was referring back to the high tax rates of the post-war era to say that an inheritance tax is not that
