I'm beginning to wonder if there isn't a subject on which SFP isn't an expert.

We’re not; you know we’re not, but that won’t stop you from arguing that we are and calling others morons.

Here is an article describing actual tariff rates of countries on the list
quote:
The Cato Institute said the 2023 trade-weighted average tariff rate from China was 3%, not the 67% the administration said it was.
The administration said the European Union charges the U.S. a tariff of 39%, but the Cato report said the EU’s 2023 trade-weighted average tariff rate was 2.7%.
In another example, the administration said India imposes a 52% tariff on the U.S., but Cato found that India’s 2023 trade-weighted average tariff rate was 12%.
Now, move the goalposts and say that the words "tariff rate" actually have nothing to do with the tariff rate of countries, and I imagine you'll project that you're smart for doing this charade.

Davy, This isn’t a matter of opinion. VDH was wrong when he said we are mirroring other countries tariffs. That’s what we thought it would be, but the reality is something very different. Someone famously said, “You are welcome to your own opinion but not to your own facts.” It’s the “facts” part we are discussing in this aside. VDH had that wrong.
BTW, I disagree with SFP, and I agree with VDH, on the larger issue of tariffs. I think Trump was wise to do this. I don’t get why he didn’t just make them reciprocal, but Trump, Ludnick and company are much more accomplished than me and have MUCH more data, so I’m holding my breath, crossing my fingers, squinting both eyes and hoping.
