Yeah it's bullshite from day one in 86 through present day hornets had wings down before even getting up to the cats. and persusing F/A 18 accident reports - NO SUCH incident.

Yeah, I would agree that seems very improbable, though are several cases of aircraft where the wings folded in flight after launch or land based take off because the locking mechanism did not fully engage. F8's had several instances of such occurrences.
A F4 Phantom from VF14 with wings that folded after launch from the Roosevelt.

I was carrying a tray while waiting tables in college, and a bus boy was moving backwards. I performed an emergency maneuver to avoid him, and spilled a drink all over a customer.
