Trump is very hands off, so this is really CENTCOM pursuing the Obama era regime change policy.

We do appear to be partitioning the country, which is a bad idea, but the danger is that we end up fighting the Russians directly.

You don’t want to do that with a nuclear power.

The Syrians are clearing up the remaining ISIS pocket in the central desert, before tackling our jihadi allies in Idlib, and the Turkish invasion.

I expect the eastern issue will be solved diplomatically, through direct talks with the Kurds.

The Turkish situation is a major flashpoint, and will require both the Iranians and Russians to intercede. Solving the Kurdish situation is one way to ease tensions, because I don't think Turkey is interested in talking to Assad directly.

This makes Hilary and DNC colluding with Russian intelligence that much worse.

This is the Pentagons show now, regime change isnt going to happen so I'm guessing this is just a bleed off of Russian capability.

Trump is continuing the establishment agenda, the same way Obama did, and Bush before him.

This board's desperate attempt to paint Trump any different than the previous establishment-controlled Presidents is as entertaining as its equally desperate attempt to blame all of our country's ills on Obama.

Agreed.

That would involve swallowing a whole lot of pride.

Apparently the Syrians shelled a Turkish base in Idlib last week. And they’ve been suppling the YPG in Afrin with MANPADs and antitank weapons.

The Turks haven’t fought anyone since Korea and the SAA is the most capable force in the region.

So how far will the Syrians go? Will they engage the Turks directly? No one is going to save the Turks if that happens.

Our intervention was designed to overthrow Assad, and those are the marching orders until they’re retracted, so the machine will lumber on, until someone stops it.

Russian mercs should have known that pushing up on a base held by U.S. war fighters would be suicide. Doubt they make this mistake again.

Probably more like a Syrian unit or commander (or maybe even Assad) got a hair up his arse and wanted to test the resolve of the Americans.

American forces will never, ever not have the opportunity to fight back when attacked under any administration. I'd also guess these guys were embedded SF, so definitely not the people to be fricking with.

Probably more like this didn't happen at all like the fake news wants us to believe it all went down.
