It’s a boondoggle like all the rest. And it will never only cost $9B, once they start, prices will skyrocket not unlike the Cali high speed train

You hit the point.
Boston BIG DIG was scheduled to been completed by 1998 with cost of $2.8 Billion. It was actually finished at 2007 with cost of $14.6 Billion.

I visited Boise, also loved it. Almost took a job there but had an attractive job offer in Atlanta that I took instead.

I am genuinely conflicted. This business would work anywhere so basically I could live where I want to. Also considering Charleston or Savannah

And didn't huge sections of tunnel concrete fall onto cars killing a few peoplea few years back?

Guess sometimes it doesn't matter how much money you throw at something.

Yes, it did happen a few years back. Big Dig is a typical Dem. Gov. project, like Obama care website.

I65 is a crap shoot in the morning. I generally take Franklin Rd into Brentwood. I miss working in Cool Springs. Downtown Nashville has really changed since we've been here as well. I love the Ascend amph. That was a great use of that property. Parking is getting much more expensive and all the little cheap lots are disappearing.

The earlier your do it the cheaper it will be. Atlanta wishes they spent a few hundred million 20 years ago to expand their system. Now any expansion cost billions because of increasing property costs and lack of room. All I can say is vote it down and enjoy the worsening traffic and pay more for the system later.

Its a catch 22. You want your city to grow, but when people flood in, it overwhelms infrastructure and housing becomes very expensive. People also bring their politics which made where they were shitty in the first place.

Exactly. I've always put my eggs in the counties surrounding Nashville. Wilson, Robertson, Montgomery, Cheatham etc. It's cheaper, not a terrible commute and politics are a lot less coastal. Nashville isn't too terribly bad in terms of everyday politics. Tons of right wing social circles to run in.

The train solves nothing that buses would solve. Problem is no one takes the bus.

Busses are stuck traveling in the same travel lanes as cars, making them always a completely inferior option to driving yourself since they are caught in the same traffic, but have to stop more often.

Trains can have their own right of way, their own lane, avoid the car traffic, and therefor be a better option during high traffic times. Trains are also excellent for tourists if they run from the nearest airport to the major tourist attractions (radio row, Grand 'Ol Opry, Nissan Stadium, Bridgestone Arena, etc). They can also be great for commuters if they run reliably from densely populated suburbs to downtown.

Trains are a good thing if built right in an area with enough population density. The massive migration of people into Nashville seems to indicate the numbers are there to make it work, but the only question in my mind is whether the cost of the project is justifiable. 9 billion is insane. People scuttled the proposed BR/NOLA commuter train because the cost was deemed "too much" at 500 million.

Buses probably slowed traffic in Denver at least 20% or more. Only the deadbeats used them.

Buses on Government Street are always empty and slow traffic much more than 20%.

Boise is next. I was there about ten years ago and it reminded me of how Denver used to be.

All Californians do is colonize and ruin what you have. They've made their own state unlivable so they move to yours and bring their BS politics with them. They've been ruining Colorado for over twenty years; it's at it's apex now.

Great job, Nashville! You put a Californian in charge who isn't in charge any more and made it impossible to live there.
