Serious question. Does smoking weed cause lung cancer? They always used to say it was much worse for your lungs than tobacco but I don't know if that's true.

Honestly no one really knows. There are studies claiming it does, studies claiming it doesn't, and some studies even suggesting it prevents cancer. The problem is most of those studies have been funded by organizations with dubious intentions one way or the other. That and the legality of weed means that they rely on self reporting.

Personally, I figure it can't be a good thing to inhale smoke but luckily there are other forms of partaking.

Only way to kill the black market and all violence associated with it. Sure there would be an initial surge of darwinism but after the initial clear out, things would settle down.

We should repeal the federal laws prohibiting the cultivation, sale, and possession of marijuana and let the individual states determine how each wishes to regulate it.

I don't have a problem with legalized weed but yes, it does have harmful side effects.

So - Rationally yes.

Everyone knows who the Hells Angels and they are on government dime.
They are now either on government Dime or lost their main revenue stream - we will leave that to our non-elected police service wearing funny hats and riding meece (apparently).

If it takes a bite out of a 5 bil industry and is managed right - see Trump: right to try - sure.

This is a failed Barack policy with the greatest of intent and the poorest of execution come to roost in my neck.

USA should be leading the world in this regard. Legalizing marijuana would significantly impact the drug trade, reduce funding needed for criminal housing and processing while letting people do what they want to their bodies. Regulate it the same way as tobacco if you want.

The problem is that it will cut a chunk out of revenue for both tobacco and pharma companies. They are the ones lobbying against this at state and federal levels.

I don't know that big tobacco is against legalization. They aren't really competing products beyond sharing a method of consumption. If anything, I would think that the big tobacco companies would be well suited to enter the market almost immediately if we legalized nationally.

The bill must now go back to the House of Commons, where the government will decide whether to approve, reject or modify the changes before returning it to the Senate for another vote.

Once passed, Health Minister Ginette Petitpas Taylor has said that provinces and territories will need two to three months to prepare before retail sales of legal cannabis are actually available.

I can see this side of it too, but I disagree that they aren't competing products.

How are they competing products? Because you can smoke both of them? Are ibuprofen and multivitamins competing products because I can take them both in pill form?

If anything, they're complimentary products. Back when I smoked cigs, I'd smoke a lot more of them when I was high. Weed doesn't do anything to relieve nicotine withdrawal and if you're product doesn't relieve nicotine withdrawal then you aren't much of a threat to tobacco.

Except someone can drive after taking ibuprofen.

Smoke a joint and you are not in a mental state to drive. Just like drinking

Let’s pretend like this is accurate. It might be (it’s not). Let me just throw a wrench at it real quick.

Why can you drink 2-4 beers over 2 hours and be legally allowed to drive yet any amount of marijuana, regardless of the potency and amount consumed is an entire justification to not legalize it?

I’ll hang up and listen

While BAC Is not a perfect scale by any means, I’d probably we willing to adjust positions if some form of test/scale were available for weed.

You're assuming that someone must smoke both. The millennial generation has been told all their lives that cigarettes will cause cancer, but marijuana is a treatment for cancer. Weed will be able to replace tobacco and supplement it.
