UNCONSTITUTIONAL

Dear Senator _____,
As a representative of the people, I am appalled and embarrassed at you and our parties lack of involvement in Governor John Bel Edwards recent decision to keep the economy in a standstill. This is a pitiful display of power and I urge you to stand up for what is RIGHT! Our families are struggling for cash, and the middle class will soon be evaporated if this shutdown continues even one more day.
Not to mention the looming deficit that hangs over our heads once the oil and gas issues begin to take a toll. WE ARE ON A SINKING SHIP AND IT IS YOUR DUTY TO FIGHT FOR WHAT IS RIGHT!
Yours Truly,
Concerned Constituent

You still believe they care what the people think?
Do you also still believe in Santa Claus, Easter Bunny and other myths?

Look I’m all for ending the stay. This is hurting me financially. I was hoping the restrictions would be eased today as well.
But you don’t understand the constitution.

They have a veto-proof majority?

§768. Termination of declaration of public health emergency
A. The state of public health emergency shall continue until the governor finds that the threat of danger has passed or the disaster or emergency has been dealt with to the extent that the emergency conditions no longer exist and terminates the state of public health or emergency by executive order or proclamation, but no state of public health emergency may continue for longer than thirty days unless renewed by the governor.
B. The legislature, in consultation with the public health authority, by a petition signed by a majority of the surviving members of either house, may terminate a state of public health emergency at any time. This petition terminating the public health emergency may establish a period during which no other declaration of public health emergency may be issued. Thereupon, the governor shall issue an executive order or proclamation ending the state of public health or emergency.
Acts 2003, No. 1206, §1.

They’ve always had the power to do so.

that's a great letter
fwiw, I try not to be the grammar nazi (we all make typos and spell check gets most of us from time to time) unless someone is calling another stupid and then makes a dumb typo/grammatical error...
having said that, you need to fix this before mailing it off:
needs to be changed to "party's" before this gets sent to Washington
eta, I should have said Baton Rouge instead of Washington

parties is plural, meaning 2 or more
party's is singular possessive

Because they are afraid of our stupid electorate. The spineless gop in this state do not act because they are afraid of the Democrats come re-election time. They don’t have any convictions they only want to be re-elected. The Democrats will use whatever they do to attack them and rely on the stupidity of the average Louisiana voter to eat up whatever they say (see honor code and conservatives for JBE for reference.)
