The doom and gloom weather pattern predictions are an annual event.

Don't be obtuse.

No no, it is definitely always the case that states are better equipped to respond to needs of the state than the feds.

Why are states, including red ones, still begging the wholly ineffective and unwanted Federal Emergency Management Association for help?

They aren't, but I can see why you would say that.

Do you even have a clue what I’m talking about? Obviously not. Hamilton was getting things changed and now he’s gone with hurricane season rolling in.

Is that the guy who honestly answered a question he was asked during a hearing that he was sworn in for and was subsequently fired for the answer he gave?

This is the one case where the feds are equally as bad as the state.

Begging? The agencies exist through the taxation of all citizens. If they continue to exist, they must respond to all of those citizens equally.

Obviously, it would be better if it didn't exist at all.

Begging?

Yes. Donald says the states can stand on their own feet. The states say they can't. Donald says they better because they aren't getting any Fed help. It caused a whole kerfuffle with appeals and articles being written and mud being slung.

FEMA needs to reboot anyway......burn it and rebuild it, just like the FBI, CIA, USPS, Dept of Ed, and so on.

As it turns out, selecting appointees using loyalty over competence is how you get unprepared.

True. And they also increase 'hurricane season.' When I was a kid it started in August. Now, it's June.

bullshite.

We have had the same recognized dates for the beginning and end of the Atlantic hurricane season since 1965. Prior to that, the last change to the starting date was made in 1915, which moved that recognized start date from June 15 back to June 1.

In fact, in recent years NOAA and the NHC have resisted pressure from the World Meteorological Organization to move the recognized season start date up to May 15. So, no......they don't keep "increasing hurricane season".

I'm confused??? We've had hurricanes for hundreds of years. Is there not a standard plan that just needs updating every year with new roads, population growth, changes in food supply and availability of medical help and shelter? Doesn't seem to me you start from scratch every year or every 4 years. Unless that's how fricked up government is.

Do they need a new plan every year?

Like the old FEMA was ever prepared to do anything other than impede charities and relief organizations from helping any of the affected.

I know someone who worked for a company that does a lot of disaster response contracting for FEMA.

They were recently laid off along with tons of others.

Reasons; cancelled contracts and significant drop in expected future work.

For better or worse, if disaster strikes, don’t depend on FEMA. I’m sure your insurance company will pick up the slack!!
