We won't know what this month or quarter is for a while.
If we don't know if we're in a recession, why is Tucker implying that we are?
GDP for Q2 in 2023 was positive. Therefore we have not had two quarters of negative GDP, therefore we are not currently in a recession. It may turn into a recession, but we are not currently in one.

The last time we were in a recession was in 2020, Trump's last year.
My God. You're such a hack. Can't you just have an honest discussion?
There you go, you're so emotional about the issue that you can't even recognize actual facts. We were in a recession in 2020, for whatever reasons, we were still in a recession. There's nothing dishonest about that, it is merely factual.
quote:
Was there something that happened during 2020 that caused that recession?
Yes, there usually is something that causes recessions.

Of course it is, that's part of the cure for inflation. Hell, a recession wouldn't even be that terrible of a thing to happen right now. It would ease the inflation, and we've finally got some room to maneuver with the Fed rate again.
If you had been looking to invest in the bond market at any time over the last 15 years, you would be glad to see rates up where they are now. Do you know how hard it is to move from stocks to bonds when bonds are earning less than 1%?
The biggest economic problem we have right now is the federal government continuing to borrow money to feed their spending spree, not that we're in a recession.
People want to bitch and moan about inflation, and then bitch and moan about the cure for inflation. It's like we're just a bunch of kids who want ice cream for dinner every night - and the federal government is right there spoon feeding it to us.

Yep, a tyrannical government has all kinds of goodies they can spring on its citizens in wartime. Goodies like suspension of Habeas Corpus, lst Amendment Rights, and even positioning federal troops in and on American soil and cities.
Unfortunately, looking over the Republican govenors I don't see one (with the exception of Ron DeSantis) with enough guts to challenge an out-of-control Federal Central Government. That includes our current SCOTUS.
Basically, they just throw the Bill of Rights out the window.

quote:What about the cumulative effect of inflation on prices over the last 3 years?
The inflation rate is currently 3.2%. The average rate of inflation for the last 60 years or so is 3.7%.

When inflation is boat racing GDP what does that mean?
First tell me what you mean by "boat racing".
But generally that's considered "stagflation", not a recession.
quote:
Also, the numbers that the Obiden admin is putting out are laughable. They have changed (moved the goal posts) the way they report on inflation. The real number is way worse. To top it all off is that they always release these numbers and then revise them worse a month or two later. The MSM does not cover those revisions ever
Blah, blah, blah.
If you were older, you'd recognize that same old drivel that's dragged out every time someone is trying to discredit an administration.

This will be the ad Democrats run against Trump. Little freckled girl playing in a field counting down the pedals on a flower. Cut to a shot of Putin and Trump and a nuclear explosion Trump will also be behind bars.

I remember predicting this and others thought I was crazy.
When Congress declares war and the President declares a state of emergency, government powers go up dramatically.

He is certainly pro-Russia. Whether he is so out of conviction, for obvious financial reasons, or because he’s Putin’s lackey is nothing ANY of us can prove.

But, there is consequences to being in war vs. not. Election. If you want to be in a extended office you, be part of it. You will not have a election.
