Because he didn't.
He said that up to 50% of the weapons sent to Ukraine ended up elsewhere. Including some to the Mexican cartels.
He didn't say 50% went from Ukraine to Mexico.
Slight difference.
I could believe half the weapons ended up on the open market, just not all to the bad hombres down south.

The Mexican President talked to Trump about the Cartels getting weapons. I don't think she was talking about shotguns and Glocks. She was talking about military grade shite like drones, sams, rpgs, M-16s etc. She was telling Trump that we were arming them (directly or indirectly) and her options get limited when they have better arms than her military.
