re: Trump's new label for Ron DeSantis, 'RINO globalist,' has roots in a far-right conspiracy.

Trump is a globalist. The entire world is full of globalists.
Globalism refers to various patterns of meaning beyond the merely international. The concept of globalism is also classically used to distinguish the ideologies of globalization. In this sense, globalism is to globalization what nationalism is to nationality.
The ideas of economic and political integration of countries and economies in this case is Globalism.
John S. de Beers..
In short, the part "Political integration" is the issue.
In 2016, we had a conversation close to this. Nobody is against trade. Nobody is against working with allies. What we are against is the globalist march towards that political integration that leads to other nations or bodies have any control over the USA.
The issue with some of the economic side of globalism can be seen now in movies and sports like the NBA. Our industry, thanks to globalism, is now beholden to China.
That's seen in the NBA and their "don;t ever say that about china". It was seen when an actor had to apologize to China over a comment on Taiwan.
In all of these examples, Trump is not that.

What policies among the "globalists" support this kind of integration?

I'm positively sure you don't. Youre lost outside your lane.

He did this early like most elected officials that had zero reason to believe at the time that this was allegedly harmful. Still, years later, it's a hot topic
He locked down the state, just as every other state government did. They all locked down over a panic. No one had a plan besides “Hope we all don’t die.” The correct plan was to lockdown three weeks, do all the prep for 1,000,000 incapacitated, and wade through it.
But here’s the thing: when the correct facts came out, he was the first to reopen, followed shortly by Texas.

During Tuesday's White House press briefing, President Trump said Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is "a great governor" who "knows exactly what he's doing" in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Vice President Mike Pence added to the DeSantis accolades, saying the Republican governor has "been taking decisive steps from early on."
But according to public health experts, thousands of heath care workers and a pending lawsuit, DeSantis' leadership has been woefully inadequate.

Nah, you got lanes.
The rest of them are occupied by people not constrained by legal opinions in situations that don't require legal opinions.

Trade with China, a communist country that we made very wealthy but have no common ground politically. Want to start there?
Political integration isn't just forming a new governing body. It's achieved in many ways.
Or we can go with the G-20 or WEF and we can talk about what comes out of those. Example, the g-20 article that says:
quote:
Many policy-makers now refer to international constraints when pressed about their lack of effectiveness to address national challenges, and analysts point to the difficulty to combine democratic national sovereignty and global economic integration.
According to Rodrik (2011) in particular, globalization requires either to lift the scale of democratic governance to the global level, leaving little policy-making at the national level, or to submit national policies to international norms, thereby reducing the scope of democratic control. At the moment, both globalization and democratic institutions suffer from growing disaffection from the population, while the sirens of nationalism, closure and xenophobia attract increasing numbers of citizens.

That's not political integration.
The most democratic process in the entire world is the dollar vote. Conservatives always believed in the dollar vote, until now.
You cast your opinions on who to trade with when you buy things, not when you vote.

And DeSantis followed the WH plan for reopening.

I mean, its objective fact. You folks are just very confused on terminology.
Do you need the definition of mercantilism again?

I see you left all the rest out. We can have both conversations at the same time if you want to talk about the g-20.
quote:
That's not political integration.
Sure it is. Are you trying to say that trade with China has had zero effects on our politics?

WEF is an advisory group. Its never going to be a government.
We'll adopt some WEF stuff, but it will not be DeSantis. It will be the Democrat that gets elected when you tribalist destroy DeSantis.

No I don't because I understand that Trump, myself and others are not against trade.
