Interesting eschatological tidbit: in Islamic understanding, the "anti-Christ" is likely the Jewish messiah, and Jesus is supposed to return to Earth to slay him. Weird stuff, man.
Islamic eschatology is super interesting. It differs between Shia and Sunni too. There is one apocryphal story about how the anti-Christ will come and feed the hungry by spreading earwax on bread, and will be blind in one eye. I've never had this version corroborated anywhere in the literature, but it was very unique, for lack of a better word.

I think I've asked you this before, but what do you know about the Alawites? Everything I've read indicates that they are very secretive, hereditary based, and an admixture of Christian and Islamic theology.

quote:Not it isn't. Where do you people come up with this garbage. The antichrist is going to set himself up in the temple to be worshiped as God. Is he going to set him himself up in Jesus's resurrected body?
Jesus's resurrection is the fulfillment of the 3rd temple.
quote:
exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

Not to Jews.
Nor to most evangelicals.
Though the passage referenced was Jesus talking about His upcoming death and resurrection, Revelation talks about a physical Third Temple.
Once it is complete The Beast will come in and declare himself to be God, after which all Hell literally breaks loose for the next 3.5 years.

So before the victory of the Jafari school of Shia Islam in the 15th century (through mass Persian conversion through royal decree), their were various syncretic versions of Shia Islam that morphed into Druze, Alawite, Alevi, and many other extinct Shia sects. All these sects share the belief in the holiness of one or more members of the family of the Prophet. The other thing that these Shia sects share is the use of taqiyya, and for that reason taqiyya in the Sunni mainstream was always looked down upon (and as an aside, almost always a ridiculous accusation thrown at Sunni Islamists when one looks at the historical use of taqiyya).
Groups like the Druze incorporated many Greek rituals and texts, while the Alawites incorporated a form of the Christian Mass. But their origins are almost singularly Shia in origin, as in they believe in various Imams, with the Druze believing in a string of Imams after Jafar al-Sadiq, the Alawites believing in the Imams until Hasan al-Askari, and the Alevi believing in the 12 imams and a variety of beliefs.
The Alawites gained the blessing of two major mainstream Shia leaders in the 70s, Musa al-Sadr and Ayatollah Khomeini, which meant they were considered Muslims by other Muslims, though they are still not considered Muslims by the Sunni mainstream.
ETA: The major schools of Shia Islam before the Persian conversion were the Isma'ilis, and the Jafaris. After the conversion, the Jafari school won, and in modern times, the Usuli subschool won out over the Akhbari, which means that Shia Islam has achieved a rare consensus in the Islamic world. In other words, most Shia in the world are of Persian descent, follow the same school and the same subschool. That lends itself to a strict hierarchy and has proved to be politically useful for organizing against the larger Sunni communities, which are not nearly as organized.

Actually, for the leader of the free world to acknowledge that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel is not only a big deal, but a prophetic one as well.

Nothing unusual about a kid being scared of irrational horror stories. Hopefully you've grown up a bit and realize this is utter horseshite.
