So basically the off strip and downtown casinos are thriving like never before because they have stuck to the old Vegas mentality
Exactly this. I’m local and there are plenty of off-strip casinos that are doing better YoY, mainly for the reason you stated. You couldn’t pay me to go anywhere near the strip right now.

As a vacation destination Vegas is about as unappealing as you can get.
Go to Biloxi Mississippi
clean safe good food
they will bring you a drink before you even put money in a machine

Good. It would be a good time for the Gulf Coast to take all those working class people looking to gamble. Stay your douche as? in Vegas. May I suggest the Wynn.

is it possible that labor has gotten more expensive and it is driving costs up?

Seems like thats the plan or they can all go to Downtown or the RedRock, GreenValley or the M
The Wynn is the best hotel ever

The days of the poors flooding Vegas for free drinks and cheap buffets are for sure over
They are moving to entertainment over gambling. The Wynn is packed at all times. They need to blow up hotels like Luxor and Excalibur and replace them put up luxury apartments
Lol good luck to Vegas on surviving then.

Vegas is overrated anyway. Id rather be a million other places than some asphalt pad in the fricken desert

You think they need freeloaders to survive
Posted on 8/3/25 at 1:14 pm to SDVTiger
I really dont care if Vegas survives or not. I haven't been there in like 6 years. Od rather be out camping than in some gay arse playground for people who dont have the ability to entertain themselves.

$25/minimum bets at the nicer hotels are killing Vegas.
Not even getting 3/2 payout on BJ tables either.

An an alcoholic with a little over 3 years of sobriety under my belt. Last thing I need is to go to Vegas and be surrounded by a bunch of drunk adults acting like tards.

They took away free parking. They took away cheap buffets. They took away all the budget resorts. They priced 95% of regular Americans out and wonder wtf happened.
If the strip is what pricing out 95% of Americans looks like the prices need to get 10 feet higher.
Lots of people.
Low on class.

The smell of weed everywhere and the sketchy homeless is what keeps me away.

You seem like an Excalibur type. I dont undertsand the downvotes
I'm just there to crash for the night and drive to the national parks the next day. Vegas is a good food city. I'll give it that. I probably just have a different travel mindset than you. I travel for longer periods and more often than the average person. Most people might go on one or two trips a year for 5 days, so they're more likely to spend more for luxury. I also don't see the value of staying at a place like the Wynn for the price per night. There's not enough perks I care about.

Blackjack side bets should be considered stealing.

Its possible that Vegas is setting cost and margins to the economy and wage scales of it’s closest economic draw, Southern California, which prices out most of the rest of the country from an affordable trip to Vegas.

I believe entertainment passed gambling about 15 years ago

Fremont Street is the place to be. For the Free Concerts if not anything else.
