Iran and their allies have millions of men who hate the West and would rather destroy their economy than let us win without a treaty with concessions from the US, at this point. a few thousand of them in that mountainous area bordering the strait, launching drones, shooting rockets and lyines mines would cause Billions of dollars in damage.
It would take deaths and ships destroyed. The US + Europe could free the Strait but you'd have to plan it, not launch a war without the backing of your strongest military allies after destroying relations with them for the past 2 years

American Protestant Evangelicals are the dominant Christian theology and culture here in the USA and that's never going to change. As such, the USA is never going to stop supporting the State of Israel by any means necessary, because it is a tenet of the American Religion - it's a Spiritual matter - you aren't going to get objective and logical analysis on our foreign policy Re: Israel when it is a Religious/Spiritual analytical methodology used to reach policy solutions.
ONE GOOD THING: the Religious methodology generates solutions that are not that far away from what a purely rational methodology would generate.
