What this country needs are role models. The professional athletes used to understand what an honor it is to be in such a privileged position in life. They have somehow convinced themselves that they are entitled to bite the hand that feeds them. They are not. Bravo for Trump teaching them a lesson. If they keep this up, the XFL will replace the NFL or some other league that seizes the patriotic limelight away from them. NASCAR gets it. Baseball gets it. The NBA not so much.

Was a thought out strategic move by Trump. He checkmated them. While the Eagles were at the White House CNN, MSNBC, etc... would have focused on those that weren't there. Those that decided to protest Trump. Those that hint of racism behind Trumps criticism of the players.
Trump simply denied the players that weren't coming a platform to make a statement. He denied the MSM an opportunity to focus on the players that chose not to come. This was a brilliant move on many levels.

Trump disinvites Eagles from White House - while millions of Americans hurt. Puerto Rico suffers. Allies fret. The planet warms. He uses our National Anthem to sow disunity in what's supposed to be the UNITED States of America. I think history will mark it as akin to McCarthyism.

I don't fault Trump for his move. Football is a team sport, both on and off the field when you are in a position of representing your team. If the "team" can all show up to a Super Bowl game and represent that team then they sure as hell should be able to show up as a team at the WH and receive accolades as a team. Leave your damn politics at home while representing your football team, not your political team.
