Because he knows most Americans hold debt and are not lenders.

Because people are earning money off of paper that isn't backed by anything of significant value.

Huh? He picked Jerome Powell. Why didn't he pick someone more dovish than Yellen if he's going to be a pussy about interest rates.

There is a lot of evidence to support this assertion.

He should put a YUGE tariff on the Fed Reserve until interest rates are more fair and reciprocal!

I lightly perused the Fed's Beige Book last night. It's apparent the Fed language therein is leaning toward rate hikes. That's the only problem with good news, sometimes it's offset with impending higher rates.

The amazing thing is the Executive Branch has no control of the Federal Reserve. I don't believe Congress even has the power to check the Federal Reserve.

More $$$ it will take to service the 20 trillion in debt. Huge looming problem in the near future.

You can have either higher interest rates now, or accelerating inflation later. The Fed believes higher interest rates are less painful.

I tend to agree with them.

The last time we had run away inflation, the fed had to get the fed funds rate (it would be LIBOR now) up to 20% and TBond rates up to 14 or 15%. Nipping inflation in the bud now will be less painful in the long run.

What's funny before he took office we had an 8 year period where it went up once. No one was ever helped more than the last with everything and was still a horrible failure.

It's a purely political statement.

Rising inflation without any wage increases mean the Real Wages will not increase like he was hoping for before the midterms.

He could push for Congress to audit the Fed, but I'm not holding my breath.

Wait, doesn't POTUS appoint the entire board and chairman?

It's backed by our military.

If anyone tries to undermine it we annihilate them.
