Trump would be a much better president if he developed chronic laryngitis.

I always read quotes like this here. How, exactly, did he "frick the whole world up"?

Many of you like myself know this to be ABSOLUTELY TRUE first hand. Over 1,000 people died in the aftermath of Katrina. We had more people die in Mississippi alone than died in Puerto Rico. Louisiana by far was hit FAR, FAR worse by Katrina than what happened to Puerto Rico.

It is ok for multiple things to be called a catastrophe. It does not take away from the awful nature of Katrina to call Puerto Rico's situation a catastrophe as well.

Okay, deep breath here.

quote:

1) He got conservative judge Neil Gorsuch on the Supreme Court.

So he nominated a judge, and that judge was confirmed, as is standard protocol for every sitting president. Oh, except that he also was offered the opportunity on a (dirt stained) silver platter by the Republican controlled house and senate that took what was essentially an unprecedented step of icing out Obama's respectable nominee in Merrick Garland for 8 months. But sure.

quote:

2) The stock market is at an all-time high.

Historical S&P 500 Growth

Yes, as it's continued it's essentially linear growth rate that it had under Obama, when, *gasp*, it was also at an all time high. But he can take credit for that, that's fine.

quote:

3) Consumer confidence is at an all-time high.

Historical Consumer Confidence

It is not. The all time high was in early 2000, before the dot com bubble burst. It's high, too be sure, and growing. But guess what? It's on the same slope it was during Obama's presidency, which is to say, climbing steadily since it bottomed out in 2009.

But again, you're crediting Trump with essentially maintaining a growth rate.

quote:

4) He created more than a million jobs by undoing Obama’s regulations.

Job Growth

Jobs created YTD, 2017: 1.41 MM
Jobs created YTD, 2016: 1.55 MM

?? Looks like he's done objectively worse so far, compared to last year.

quote:

5) Mortgage applications for new homes is at a 7 year high.

Mortgage Applications for New Homes

...once more following the linear trend they were on before Trump was even running, let alone in office.

quote:

6) Unemployment rate is at a 16 year low.

Historical Unemployment Rate

...following the same linear downward trend it's been on since the recovery from the recession started. Once more, of course Trump is presiding over the "best" period in the last 16 years. Basically every month has been the best since 2010.

quote:

7) Signed the promoting women in entrepreneurship act.

Because Trump sure does love and respect women

quote:

8) Gutted 800 Obama era regulations thus freeing up companies to hire again and get the economy moving once again.

Doesn't seem to make a huge difference in the data, besides continuing trends from before he was in office.

quote:

9) Ended the war on coal and caused a new mine for coal mining to open that will mine clean coal. He also put the miners back to work.

Great. He "saved" an industry that employs less people than Arby's, and which the developed world as a whole is collectively moving away from for a host of reasons, so that he could play to his base. This is a subjective "win" at best.

I could go through the rest of your list as well, but basically everything you're claiming he's "done" is comprised of either A) not completely reversing positive trends that were in effect long before he took office, or B) completely subjective partisan choices.

Yay Trump.
