Jesus, another thread that has been hijacked by RogertheBusDrivingEconomist. We have heard you excrete this anti-tariff crap ad nauseum. It would be entertaining if any of it were true.

Then cut 4T from the debt.

I'm fine with that. But do you know what Trump did? He raised spending, while cutting taxes which created a larger debt.

Trump is applying an equal and measured hand (i.e. "What they charge, we charge") to make the other parties in the trade more amenable to come to the table with those three principles in mind rather than allowing them to frick us raw and get away with it.

You need better dance moves. You can't even link related actions to their principles.

No he isnt. He's "literally" using tariffs as a weapon to achieve non trade benefits over foreign countries.

quote:

Trump also threatened the broader BRICS group of nations with tariffs if they did not commit to not create a new currency.
COLOMBIA: Trump said he would put 25% tariffs on Colombian goods after the country refused to take in flights carrying migrants to be deported from the U.S.; the two sides worked out an agreement.

0% chance of this.

I put forth plans to cut $3T from the budget with a combination of regular cuts, using the money I found to account for SS, and my healthcare plan that would take CMS budget from $1.5T to $0.5T. That would put us in a surplus but I've not seen similar plans from Trump.

There is zero chance of a balanced budget absent such moves.

SS is about $1.6T
CMS $1.5T
Defense is around $1T
Revenue is around $4.4T iirc
There is no way to balance the budget right now. You could get to a balance if those three items were all that had to be paid for.

Go after fraud and waste and get the economy kick started. Energy prices should have already come down. When energy gets cheap, things will take off and revenues will begin to increase. We can make big strides at that point. One of the things Trump can do is limit exports of oil. If you force oil to be used / sold domestically, that price will come down and bring everything lower along with it.

You're either a troll or intellectually dishonest.

Here you go again...

quote:

The Trump administration “will work strenuously to counter non-reciprocal trading arrangements with trading partners by determining the equivalent of a reciprocal tariff with respect to each foreign trading partner,” according to the text of the memo sent to media.

quote:

Trump said he intends to issue further tariffs “over and above” the reciprocal measures on some key imports including semiconductors and cars.

These quotes were in my long post with the same article.

No, your sphincter is so tight around your neck that you're not getting proper airflow.

He's using tariffs as a weapon, thats indisputable.

The dumbass is addicted to tariffs and youre not smart enough to fight back, or even know why you should be fighting back.

He’s threatened tariffs on Mexico and Canada to get them to help with border security. He threatened tariffs on Colombia for refusing the illegals. Neither were enacted because the countries complied with demands.

He signed a separate reciprocal tariff executive order I think that goes into effect in April that basically says we will increase our tariffs to match those of other countries on our imports, so this gives them the opportunity to lower theirs.

Also, it’s ironic that you use “weapons” to describe the actions of the least violent President in a long time.

Yes. Thanks for being honest.

He's using tariffs as a weapon, not simply as "reciprocity."

See, after crying and whining you actually agree he is using tariffs as weapons.

That wasnt hard was it, Forrest?

It’s funny to me that this is some outlandish concept when it should happen year in and year out

See and the tariffs (that were never used and a trade war never happened) were "gasp" beneficial to the US. That is not hard to understand is it, Forrest?

Youre a month in, friend. Seems like an Auburn educated economist would understand that inflation lags and trade wars drag, but here we are.
Get back to me in a year when inflation ticks up, your choices go down and youre stuck with inefficient bloated corporations.

So you just skipped the rest of my post? What are your thoughts on him not starting any wars and ending wars that others started? Is that good?

Ok. I thought you were capable of rational discussion but you only choose to discuss aspects that support your points and ignore others that dispute them. You should consider listening to an opposing viewpoint and considering it instead of focusing only on an aspect you disagree with.

When proven wrong, run away. The MAGA tradition.

When confronted with facts, y'alls neck inches further up your a-hole.

Trump is a Demagogue, do you deny this?
