Since Mexico blames the rise of the cartels on America’s appetite for illegal drugs, what if Mexico sent their elite forces to the US to take out top “drug lords” in American cities?

How would you feel about that?

They don’t have a “right” to do that, just like we don’t have a “right” to go south and do it to them.

frick "rights".
America hasn't allowed and facilitated 30 million illegals to the Mexican border, allowing the cartels to make billions charging the illegals for passage along with the human trafficking, forced prostitution, and human slavery the cartels have forced on the illegals who couldn't pay.
Don't forget the hundreds of thousands of children that have been victims of the cartels in ways those of us sitting on computers and phones, typing away at this thread can even imagine.
frick Mexico's rights. If they won't deal with it, we should and hopefully will. We damn sure know what doing nothing gives us....

We've spent a trillion plus fighting drugs and its totally ineffective. In fact, the illegal nature of drugs creates more dangerous and addictive alternatives.

You sit back and support doing nothing son.
I'm all for trying something different and taking the fight to the cartels on different levels, not only selective strikes.
I'm not repeating myself anymore.

You know what they say about opinions.... that goes for yours and mine!

You keep losing this expensive war, Daughter.

And have learned no lessons in the process.

The military at the border still wouldnt do anything. Didnt they just catch some marines smuggling drugs at the border or illegals?

The military at the border fixes all of this.

Properly secure the border and that would solve the problem. Make the border like the North/South Korea border. Have all vehicles crossing the border from Mexico heavily searched.

Subvert the ops. Let even more people through the border. Drum up outrage at the UN. Thorns in our side, essentially.

Plus, I don’t know how anyone who’s read about the history of US relations with Mexico thinks playing whack-a-mole down there is productive. It has never worked. And we have tried it before—several times.

250,000 people have died from fentanyl that is coming in from Mexico. That's over four times the number that died in Vietnam. We have gone to war with countries over much less than this.

never invade down south while soft.

If you're going to go down [south of the border], go down hard.

As others have said label the cartels terrorist organizations and use surgical strikes, drones, whatever else to take out and disrupt the cartels business.

Like how we justified invading Iraq in 2003? Got it.

Sounds easy enough

Nobody said that

Your ideas being bad is not say nothing ever can be done

Mexico isn't thousands of miles away like Iraq and Afghanistan

We didn't fail at nation building in either area because of distance from the US

We will fail in nation building in Mexico, too. That will hurt us a lot more economically, as well.

Exactly. Nothing would change. At the very least South America would fill the void left open and we would have to divert attention there. It would be a continuous cycle of whack a mole.

100%. Best we can do is get them to cut of Chyna from the country

Get rid of the fentanyl. You heard what Theo Vonn said to JD

You can literally become a billionaire by seizing control of distribution.

That incentive will always lead to people risking it and filling the void.
