And how, in heaven’s name, is Trump to blame for Biden’s disastrous decision to cut and run? Trump was negotiating with the Taliban, but there was nothing wrong with that. The negotiations were conditions-based, and Trump made clear the Taliban would be held accountable for their actions. Moreover, Trump’s team made sure that if, in the end, the Taliban proved untrustworthy, the remaining U.S. force had been sized and scoped to present a serious deterrent to the Taliban and be sufficient to protect U.S. interests. Trump, in fact, handed Biden a problem mostly solved. All Biden had to do was negotiate a lasting settlement from a position of strength or maintain an economy of force presence in Afghanistan if the Taliban failed to deliver. Instead, Biden just decided to call it day and call the troops home regardless of what the Taliban did on the ground.

This is the Obama-Biden playbook. Disengage in dangerous situations, and hope everything doesn’t go to hell in a handbasket. And when those fond hopes don’t pan out? Time to make excuses; shift blame; do anything but deal with the problem—unless there is absolutely no alternative.

Trump made a deal with the Taliban. Biden and his handlers made a deal with Afghanistan and they got screwed. That's on Biden.

Pretty much - with the exception that the Taliban deal was only part 1 done, part 2 work in progress with additional negotiations w Afghan govt left to be completed.

And Biden didn’t make any deal with anyone he just disengaged completely. Forget about the deals and negotiations that stuff is too hard and complicated and just withdraw instead. Military first, civilians last to fend for themselves.

Given what has happened re quick Taliban takeover it makes sense that the Trump admin and defense / intel officials may have seen the writing on the wall re the need to broker a power sharing agreement with Taliban and Afghan nat’l govt as obviously they couldn’t stand on their own. Seems plausible to me.

It doesn't sound irrational to me at all..given what we know now. And you can end a war and remove conflict while still keeping a few hundred soldiers on the ground.

We need that base just as much as half the other international basis we possess.

I think they realized that with the number and stamina of the Taliban forces and the lack of independent envie of the Afghan natl forces, the only way to keep the National Afghan forces in power was to continue to prop them up by continued large US forces remaining in theatre.

And Trump didn’t want to do that. He wanted to bring most of the troops home.

So the shared power agreement was supposed to offer the Taliban a place at the table so that we could mostly disengage with only a nominal advisory force remaining, the ‘ruse’ being to insist on leaving this 800 advisory force in place after an agreement between the Taliban and Afghan National govt was reached - to keep it honest.

But part 2 of deal making never happened under weak Biden.

In hindsight maybe dealing with Taliban was not the best idea, but the alternative was to remain in the endless war.

After election theft, weak Biden abandoned all work on ensuring these negotiations were held and succeeded, decided to follow through on a full withdrawal anyway, and fricked it up beyond belief.

Trump is a master negotiator. Now look what we have.

I didn't always agree with Trumps doings, and he certainly made some bad hires.

But one thing is abundantly clear,he made it clear that the U.S. was not gonna be pushed around ANYMORE period.

This cluster frick operation is all on JOE BIDEN,and his administration not Trump, they diong just what Dems do ALWAYS blame somebody else for their frick ups, and that's ALL they do is frick UP, and people are waking up to this shite, and it will not end well for these frick ups,

These arse holes don't give 2 shits about any American that gets killed, you take care of your own 1st, then take care of the rest

Elections have consequences
