Ortega announced Nicaragua will no longer hold national elections. He says he will not allow the opposition back into power. No one can doubt that eliminating elections altogether crosses a line. A government that cannot risk letting its own people choose their leaders has lost confidence in its own legitimacy.

Time for Trump to do the Maduro on Ortega. His bs has gone on long enough. Nicaraguans need freedom. I'm sure there are some charges that can be filed in Miami.

I went to Nicaragua several years ago and it’s a shame because the country was beginning to open up and has potential. Ortega was the old Sandinista leader Reagan was feuding with back in the 80’s. He was promising reform and to open up the country. He got elected and pulled a Castro and started consolidating his grip on power.
