Why both?

Asking for a person's testimony of their version of an event is useful in lieu of actual evidence of the event. It's why we accept shitty eye witness testimony when video is not available for crimes.

Why would you need this if the actual transcript is going to be made available? Or are you already asserting that whatever is released will not be damning enough and therefore would prefer just the accusation? If not, why not be happy that the transcript is going to be made public so that the light of day can shine on it?

I have no dog in this fight, and quit posting on this board years ago...just reading this thread and fascinated by this take.

The employee submits the complaint to the inspector general of the intelligence community. The inspector general is required to review it within 14 days and then determines whether the complaint is of “urgent concern,” which is defined as involving conduct “relating to” the “administration or operation of an intelligence activity within the authority of the Director of National Intelligence involving classified information.”

If the complaint appears credible, the inspector general is required to forward it to the director of national intelligence, who then has seven days to send the complaint and any accompanying information to congressional intelligence oversight committees. If the inspector general decides it’s not credible, or if he or she does not act on the complaint, the whistleblower can contact the congressional intelligence committees directly but must tell the inspector general and seek guidance from the director of national intelligence to contact the committees securely.

If there nothing to hide in the transcripts, so why cloud the issue in secrecy.

How so? We're all just asking for the whistleblower complaint to go to congress like the law says.

That is not a law or statute.

That is internal procedure.

Hmmmm…

Pretty sure the President of the United States and what he may say to a foreign leader during a telephone conversation does not fall "within the authority of the Director of National Intelligence involving classified information."

The Intelligence Community Whistleblower Protection Act (ICWPA) of 1998 provides a secure means for employees to report to Congress allegations regarding classified information. ... DoD OIG Instruction 7050.11, dated 15 February 2007, implements the ICWPA within the DoD Office of Inspector General.

Point out the specific paragraph and clause that requires the report to be sent to Congress.

Because they want to affirm their power in the law.

Those are DoD Intelligence Community procedures, not law.

Hell it doesn't even apply to the FBI, CIA, and all other civilian agencies.

At least read the shite you're slinging on here.
