Titles at these types of orgs are just rewards for this or that and nothing but a grift American taxpayers fund.

But, but, but, how could you be against this peace loving group?

Talk about incestuous.

The SecDef and SecState are permanent members of this board, as is the NDU president. The other rotating members were all fired.

I’m more interested in this being called a non-government organization when it was founded and funded by the government.

another scam invented by DEMs to hide what they are doing.
- create some NGO with a 'good sounding' name
- Treasury give it boocous of $$$$$$$$$$
- NGO hires a passle of hi-paid staff $$$$ to administer the 'good works'
- NGO funnels half the remains $$$ back to various DEMs who created it
- NGO pays out whatever is left of the rest $

I am curious about the legality of the executive branch's authority over a non-governmental organization created and funded by Congress.

USIP's own website says that, by law, the president appoints the board. Can you point to another NGO where there president has statutory authority to appoint members?

Do you think that:
1. the President having the legal authority to appoint board members
2. that the board includes sitting cabinet members by law and
3. that the president of the Institute has no voting power like the government officials and the government-appointed members

is a good indicator that it's not an NGO?

quote:

By law, the United States Institute of Peace is governed by a bipartisan Board of Directors. The board is composed of twelve members from outside federal service appointed by the President of the United States and confirmed by the Senate, and four ex-officio members: the secretary of state (who may designate another Senate-confirmed State Department official), the secretary of defense (who may designate another Senate-confirmed Defense Department official), the president of the National Defense University (who may designate the vice president of the National Defense University), and the president of the Institute (nonvoting). The board is prohibited by law from having more than eight voting members of the same political party.
