Who would you rather, the guy who looked like you and got elected or the guy who got you a job and made it so you could have money in your pocket?
Part of why the Dems are so scared about the black vote is that Trump has not only reached out but his policies have greatly benefitted the black community through a rising tide lifting all ships.
Black unemployment was at its lowest in recorded history under him simply because he got the economy churning to where anyone who wanted a job could get one.

Carter’s biggest failing in the Dem’s eyes was conceding way too early in the day.
By not holding in until later, it helped wipe out a bunch of Dems in the west like Frank Church and George McGovern.

Obama such a weak little pussy. Trump didn't even get personal, commenting very generically on Obama and Biden's job performance as "didn't do a good job". Let's see what Obama believes the equivalent response is. Because he's already gone beyond that with Trump as it stands now.

He has to. If he doesn't respond, then all President Trump has to say is, "Funny that President Obama referred to me as lazy. He couldn't even bother to make his own speech current and relevant."
It could backfire TREMENDOUSLY if he accuses those who voted for President Trump of being racists and bigots.
