Were the situations reversed, and it been Biden in the hospital and he had done that, I have no doubt that the media would be talking about how brave he was to leave his hospital room to reassure his supporters and offer them support even as he was nearly on his deathbed.
I think we all know here that Biden doesnt have to play by the same rules as Trump and I am sure the Republicans know this by now. With this knowledge in mind you have be extra careful about optics this close to the election. Optics mean more than policy at this point in the election. Biden wouldnt have done that car ride because he (likely) would have listened to his advisors that no it isnt a good idea to expose more people to the virus for a photo op.
There are plenty of other ways the President can show he is in good health, the videos and picture taken of him show that. But him needlessly exposing more people to the China Flu looks bad to the masses who have had it drilled into their heads all year that they should avoid exposing others to it.
Look I agree with a lot of what gets said on this board, particularly in regards to these lockdowns but Trump doing these photo ops are bad optics full stop. Maybe this will all be forgotten when he is recovered from this in a week or twos time but until then this is what voters have seen and is in their minds.

Yep. I believe he's been the most effective president of the last 70 years but but sure is one arrogant orange man. He wants to go it alone too much and sometimes that fricks him over. He really only has himself to blame for his debate performance.

Trump has been far more behaved this election. No insults about women bleeding or grabbing parts. He survived that, he'll survive his debate performance.

This makes holding the Senate even more critical. If Trump implodes and loses to Biden, we need to make sure the GOP retains control of the Senate to prevent Court packing and statehood for DC and Puerto Rico. I believe the debate performance killed his chances. He was on a path to win, but probably blew it by rescuing Biden.
