They own it now. Is that fair? Probably not, but that is the way things go.
Indeed. It doesn't help that the media is in the back pocket of the DNC.

the members of "The Freedom Caucus" all live in heavily conservative districts where there is literally zero chance of them losing their seats

The media is probably not all that relevant here. They made a promise to voters, they broke it. Voters have a tendency to remember these things, remember GHWB "read my lips?"
Republicans painted the ACA as a dumpster fire, and that only they could put it out. Instead of putting it out, they threw some gasoline on it.

Then let this still be a D problem. Don't make the failings our healthcare system your own if you can't fix them.
Really? So you think the GOP can go to the American people and say.. "Even though you elected us and we control the house, the senate, and the WH... we don't want you to hold us accountable for the shite stain of a healthcare system" and they will be like "You got a point!"
Seriously?

Republicans aren't united
Trump promised to repeal and replace Obama care. When opening his mouth, maybe he should have had someone working on a plan.
Trump can now tell his loyalist he tried, and move on. They'll be satisfied blaming others.

It's honestly amazing how far you've stuck your head in the sand on this issue just because it's a bad look for Trump.
That's a statement out of ignorance. This is about the healthcare system and the chance for the GOP to fix somethings so that the American people will turn even more towards conservatism.
PS... That kind of "conversation" gets you nowhere with me. I have seen this from the GOP on many occasions.

Trumptards would watch trump frick their wife and rape their daughters and then high five him
Luckily that is only like 15-20% of the population.

True, it's like thinking Maxine Waters might face some backlash if she goes too far left. Just not going to happen.

Hell, I d not know of anyone happy with it. Even most on the left were pissed that they caved on the public option.

That's hardly the issue. Here it is one more time explained in different words. We'll even do bullets
* you will not turn this nation towards conservative ideals if nothing is ever passed.
* If you can't pass the most ideal thing, pass what you can to begin the path. Give them a taste.
* Like it or not, the GOP now owns the healthcare issues. They also OWN every other issue. We just happen to be talking healthcare.
Unless the FC changes it's methods and takes somethings and stop the antics of "it's all my way or we don't vote for it", the GOP will swing the pendulum back at a faster pace to Dem control who will not think twice about forcing single payer.
one more bullet
* the younger generations will have history. Where will they learn from and what will they know? That will effect the next 30 years drastically.

Good job, guys. We elected another go-along-to-get-along guy. John "we have to do something" McCain would be proud.

If I knew I would live long enough to collect, I would bet you any amount that I'm right.

Get the federal government out of healthcare? Competition across state lines?
Okay, I live in the real world....most of the time. The Federal government has been chest deep in the health care business since about 1965-66 with Medicare....they ain't getting out. The federal government has mandated that if you show up in the emergency room you have to be treated especially if you have a real emergency.
The question is not whether they should be involved with it....we are beyond that debate. The question is about how to limit HHS's influence and ability to mandate .
Competition across state lines. Sounds nice, a great platitude, but do you really know what that means? If you are talking about being able to access plans that don't include maternity and mammograms for men, that's great. But right now all of the plans have that. You need to have those provisions removed or else buying across state lines is pissing into the wind. Also, it's going to really piss off your State Insurance Commissioner...in LA it's Jim Donelon who is actually a pretty decent guy.

Removal of the clause that turns insurance into something other than insurance (pre-existing)
That's actually something that is very popular( even among conservatives...quietly though). What do you suggest you do with kids people who have ....Lupus or some other auto-immune disease that is not a result of some sort of lifestyle choice like smoking, etc. ? Let them suffer? I don't have a good answer, but the guys in the Freedom Caucus don't either .

DO you have any expectations that stupid statements like you just made here will advance the conversation at all?
