Why were we sending US taxpayer dollars to Colombia?

We probably need to take a look at other foreign aid also

I have no problem taking a look and I'm sure a look would reveal no small amount of aid that needs to be cut off. I'm sure plenty of it is obsolete or never had a sufficient reason in the first place.

And I'm not saying you are of this mindset, but the simple-minded idea that if a dollar is sent elsewhere it is necessarily anti "Muh 'Merca 'Fust" is silly.

If the US doesn't do certain things (that include foreign aid as well as intervention from time to time as well as maintaining a foreign presence as a deterrent) around the world, we'll spend far more money in wars than the 1% of the federal budget that goes to foreign aid.

That costs pennies relatively speaking. If every dollar that we invest in foreign aid in an average year was returned to the taxpayers it would net each man, woman, and child about $235 for the year.

Now before someone chimes in claiming that that is a significant amount of money, we've already seen estimates that the Trump tariffs are going to cost Americans about $1,100 this year (not counting the inflationary effects, which will be the big effects...that's just the direct tariff costs) and will go up from there.
