If the VP got 0 electoral votes from a state - say Florida's 30 and the Presidential election ends up something like 281-257 for Trump. The VP getting 0 of those 3 would put the VP vote at 251 DeSantis -257 Harris. Neither has a majority so it would go to the Senate to decide.
Now, the electors could split the 30 votes and give 11 of them to DeSantis so Trump still hits 270 for the win but that would make the VP vote 262 - 257. Still not a majority.
A Trump-DeSantis ticket would have to win enough states to have 290+ electoral votes so that he FL electoral votes could be split and both still get 270. That is doable, sure, but risky.
