If you live in an at will state like LA or TX your company can fire you for just about any reason except for being a minority, pregnant or fat.

You’re not going to find many attorneys willing to take on these lawsuits pro bono so you guys wanting to sue better have 50-100K ready to go.

I plan to fight it and request a religious exemption. I just got a 4 page document from my pastor today for it. I haven’t gotten to read it yet to see how he’s addressing it.

I wonder what the bible says about bearing false witness:

quote:

If that doesn’t work, I was able to get a vaccination card from a nurse and will upload it to our credential app

The courts have already ruled on this. Most recent example is Indiana U’s vaccine mandate for all students. Courts just ruled it was ok. https://apnews.com/article/health-courts-education-indiana-coronavirus-pandemic-eb1408814f3d3c7921fa371675f8c617

A federal appeals court ruled Monday that Indiana University can proceed with its plan to require students and employees to get vaccinated for COVID-19, in what is the highest court decision regarding college immunization mandates.

Go ahead and sue, but you will lose.

Which in itself is absolutely insane. This should be a no brainer of a case.

What’s next? Employers thinking they can tell you where to live, what to drive? Will this cause a resurgence of organized labor?

So I looked at recession proof jobs about 20 years ago and figured I had 2 options. Specialize in a niche that has basic transferable skills or generalize in a field and gain widespread knowledge/experience to the point I could plug into any aspect of that field in an emergency.

I looked at the firearms industry and decided to specialize first. So I went about learning to store and handle ammunition for the government. I sought more and more specific certificates with a goal of getting the cream of the DoD gigs. Short term, high dollar contracts in reasonably safe areas. I don’t enjoy the Middle East or Africa but learned that a 90 day contract wasn’t that bad. I quickly moved to more of the 6 month gigs further away from unpleasant areas. And between contracts I became a generalist. I used those contracts as resume points for ATF admin, armorer, safety officer, firearm shipping receiving, instructor, and even counter sales a time or two.

So I could do a 6 month gig in Italy under DoD contract in a very safe, very nice ASP and make good money but had a fallback between contracts when in the US. I had certificates and experience that very few people had so I could reasonably expect to get the better contracts and could work just about anything firearms related when I needed a break or the contracts were not available were I wanted to go.

If DoD contracts required a Covid vaccine (and they likely do now) I would look at state department listings for other options. South Africa has a real ammunition storage issue that I could sign into an open contract for, with the State Departments blessing, and work that for a premium until the Covid issue was settled. Plenty of countries right now are looking to modernize storage and distribution but they are not ideal from a stability standpoint so they pay a premium and offer extra incentives.

I currently do not work as I’m financially capable of not doing so and maintaining a simple lifestyle. My wife works but I have enough to do to wait out the market.
