Sen. Thom Tillis said Friday that he will oppose the nomination of Kevin Warsh as chairman of the Federal Reserve by President Donald Trump until the federal criminal probe of the current chair, Jerome Powell, is “fully” resolved.
Tillis, R-NC, earlier this month vowed to oppose any new nominee for the Fed until the Department of Justice’s controversial investigation of Powell is completed.
“Kevin Warsh is a qualified nominee with a deep understanding of monetary policy,” Tillis said in a post on the social media site X.
“However, the Department of Justice continues to pursue a criminal investigation into Chairman Jerome Powell based on committee testimony that no reasonable person could construe as possessing criminal intent. Protecting the independence of the Federal Reserve from political interference or legal intimidation is non-negotiable,” Tillis said.
“My position has not changed: I will oppose the confirmation of any Federal Reserve nominee, including for the position of Chairman, until the DOJ’s inquiry into Chairman Powell is fully and transparently resolved.”

Warsh is a sacrificial lamb much like multiple of the first nominations have been for Trump admin in the past. Senate Dems will shred him, Senate GOP will have enough qualms. Trump will “concede” Warsh, then put in the real nominee, who will be more dovish historically. Dems will let him through bc they got their PR “win”, Trump will win the 4D chess

isnt Tom retiring?
Here's the problem. He's in office until Jan. 2027.
He's also a member of the Senate Banking Committee that has to confirm the choice. There are 27 members-14Rr's and 13 D's. If all the D's plus Tillis vote against confirmation the pick doesn't get out of committee.
