I don't see anything in the Gospels that have Jesus saying that.
He pretty much made clear we are to help the poor with compassion and mercy. I don't think you can find Jesus ever laying conditions about hand outs or hand ups.

There is a difference in "helping" the poor and "enabling" the poor. We don't help in this country, we give them free stuff so they can lather in their unproductive lifestyle, therefore we enable.

We had a discussion in our office the other day concerning the mentality of the people in this country. Two liberals, 1 progressive liberal, and me (independent conservative). I'm all for helping people out in need, but government assistance has now become people's lifetime payroll.
This woman is the exact example of the shitty people we have living here. I think this section of people really have no idea how to be responsible for themselves and they couldn't care less. DO WHATEVER YOU WANT and expect the govt to give them everything they want. She probably fricked around with bums and had her 3 kids. Why the hell would you do that, you dumb fricking bitch. Now she's just looking for handouts. frick her and every person like her. Limit welfare to 6 months or maybe even a year.

This is where our "discussion" in my office led. If the person is poor because they are lazy, shitty people, then no, I don't care to give them 1c. If they are going through tough times, then yes, help them out a bit. But not for the next 30 years.
