You do realize that we import a ton of the oil that is refined and export a lot of domestic due to our refineries running heavier crude than we produce?

I see someone with no idea how market works. GASOLINE IS A TRADED COMMODITY. It doesn’t single out a specific weekend, summer driving season in general yes/more additives prescribed by the government in summer yes.

This. I wonder if anyone has ever done a research paper into how quickly gas prices rise when oil goes up but how slow gas prices fall when oil prices go down. It's almost like someone is using the situation to make lots of money.

It’s not hard, research it yourself. Crude oil is one component into finished gasoline.
