Expect a stampede of companies handing out bonuses, raising pay, spending on capital projects and giving to charities, with the windfall from the newly passed corporate tax cuts.

AT&T, Comcast and a handful of companies said they would use tax reform to give money to their employees and increase capital spending.

Wells Fargo and Fifth Third said they would raise their minimum wage. Analysts expect other banks to follow, as well as other companies that will get a boost from the tax law changes.

I just don't understand how anyone can be against any sort of tax cuts. So the wealthy and large businesses get more cuts. So what? Doesn't mean you aren't getting any cuts. Most folks will still see a bigger paycheck at the end of the month. Some people are against it just because it is a Republican-led legislation. :shakemyhead:

If enough large employers pass out extra wages to their lower wage earners, this will juice the economy.

Surely you can see how people would be upset if those larger cuts for businesses and the wealthy don't trickle down like they're supposed to do. Don't get me wrong - the majority of every single quintile of filers are better off in 2018 than they are today, but if those cuts don't produce real wage growth, the middle class will have a legitimate gripe that they should have got more cuts.

This is so confusing and just proves what miserable lives Progressives lead.

Earlier this morning, and throughout the news, there are gargantuan businesses that have (1) already provided Christmas bonuses they were not already planning to pass out; and (2) already announcing RAISES in their base wage for next year directly relating to the fact that now they can pay their employees directly, instead of paying the Federal Government money their employees earn so that the Federal Government can waste it.

The Progressive view of business and entrepreneurs in general is SO SAD. Businesses would far prefer to pay good and reliable workers, and pay them well, than pay the Government to dole out benefits and bullshite.

Basically. You are already wrong and the law was passed YESTERDAY.

Put your faith in the Good Lord, and not Government. The Government will let you down Every. Single. Time.

I'm curious how many conversations there were between Republican politicians and big businesses where there was a brokered deal that they couldn't just hold on to the savings.

Increase in economic activity doesn't necessarily mean an increase in real median personal income. Tax cuts in the past have had mixed results. After the 1986 tax cuts, real median person income rose until 1989. 1990, 91, and 92 all saw decreases in personal income with a short-lived recession squeezed in between.

Who gives a shite what the motivation of business was . . . The actual MONEY is going to people who work for a living - which is a great thing for the economy, and for businesses who will as a result always get better workers when those workers are treated right.

Everyone wins.

Huh?

A) I'm a conservative.
B) I'm looking for long term growth, not short lived spurts. I'm also talking about real wages, not nominal wages.
C) Yes, this has been a good start, and I'm not shitting on the bill. I'm pointing out where concerns could be by the time Trump moves on in 2025.

I agree, but I'm curious to see if they'll still be generous in 3 years
