Among the people who were upset at the California teacher's comments, which included calling service members “the lowest of our low” and likening military recruiters to pimps, was actor Gary Sinise.

After viewing the video, he tweeted that there is “such stupidity and ignorance” in questioning the intelligence of service members.

Sinise added that Salcido's comments are “an outrageous insult” to everyone who has served, which includes former U.S. presidents.

He also revealed that as the moments drew on, he felt “more outraged” and acknowledged that the teacher is entitled to his own opinion. Why? Because our freedom of expression as citizens is “preserved” by the people he disparaged.

When he’s not in front of the cameras, Sinise dedicates much of his time to the Gary Sinise Foundation, which has created and supported programs to honor and help veterans of the military.

Sinise’s commitment goes back to his early days at Steppenwolf, where he sought out the play “Tracers,” written by Vietnam vets, and began The Veterans’ Night Preview Series, which is active to this day and has now expanded to include other theaters including Los Angeles’ Geffen Playhouse. Sinise says it’s important for theater communities to interact with their local veterans. “It’s a great intersection of two things that are important to me,” he notes. “The entertainment part of my life — my career as an actor — and the veteran support part.”
