These voter fraud incidents are another reason the Electoral College must remain

One major positive side effect of the Electoral College is that it severely limits the damage voter fraud can do.

If you have one rouge city in one rogue state, they can steal that state, but only that state.

If the President was elected by national popular vote, any fraud anywhere can tip the entire election.

States set their own election laws, because states are self contained entities. If you went to a national popular vote, states votes would now be cancelling out other states votes and they would begin gaming their rules to maximize that.

Also consider just a close race, even w/o any fraud. You'd need to recount the entire nation! At least now, a recount might affect one or two states.

Exactly...Imagine the 2000 Florida debacle multiplied 50+ times. We might not have a clear winner for many months. It would be a disaster.

and if all states went to a proportional EC system, then only one or 2 districts
and not an entire state's EC votes could be stolen
