When the bible speaks of the holy spirit speaking in tongues, it's saying that the holy spirit can speak to anyone regardless of what language they speak.

Your statement demonstrates your ignorance about scripture. The rest were in the context of recognizing when people were filled the Holy Spirit.
In 1Cor Paul discusses the gifts of the spirit and provides direction to the new church on how to understand and deal with these, so obviously this was a common occurrence in the church.
One should ask themselves, if you aren't experiencing these happenings in your church, why not? Whats missing?

quote:

“When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.” (Acts 2:4, NIV).

What happened when they were filled with the Holy Spirit?

quote:

“When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came on them, and they spoke in tongues and prophesied.” (Acts 19:6, NIV).

How did those around them know they had been filled with the Holy Spirit??? And what enabled this?
[/quote]

quote:

“While Peter was still speaking, the Holy Spirit came on all who heard the message. The circumcised believers who had come with Peter were astonished that the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out even on Gentiles. For they heard them speaking in tongues and praising God.” (Acts 10:44–46, NIV).

How did those witnessing this know they gad been filled with the Holy Spirit?

You might want to read Romans 8:26-27 before you carry on.

I learned what I know from what you call the holy spirit directly. It's a real thing.

I don't dine with Paul.

Priestal Confession

Confession

Has its roots in John 20:23 when Jesus breathed on the Disciples and told them to receive the Holy Spirit and go out amongst the people, and whosever sin you forgive is forgiven and whosever sin you retain is retained.

The Disciples were the first priests

Stop. Who is there interpreting that? All that is, is self edifying. It’s not biblical. It’s a show.

Knowledge of the holy is understanding, and the holy spirit brings that understanding to people of all cultures. If you think the purpose of the holy spirit is to posses people like a demon and make them speak in tongues that nobody can understand and thus have no real purpose, then you are simply mistaken.

My wife comes from that shite, I know all about it. Many of her aunts and such claimed to have it, and yet they were all poor in spirit.

Get this shite out of the White House and turn the country towards Catholicism

As a Catholic who has been to a Latin mass before, I enjoy the irony of seeing some dipshit calling people that are using very clear English as "speaking in tongues".

Find me a Protestant so I can send him to talk to the Lord directly ( use Irish accent, it sounds better ) I'll even afford him a dram of Bushmills to make the journey a bit easier on him.

James 5:16, which says, "Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.

If only disciples could hear confessions, why did the book of James direct us to confess sins one to the other????

Your Catholic church only tells you what it wants to. There's much more in the Bible.
