I never said they'd have lost the trial.
They've have lost the war going to trial, though.
And, as I said earlier, I'm just asking questions is NOT the way you want to frame a defense, given the overall context.

I find it astonishing the left feels we should have less questioning of authority, not more.
Who is saying that?

So you are implying the premise of this case was actually garbage.
Not garbage, but not a slam dunk.

But it was an extortion racket designed to make FN submit
That describes all lawsuits, if you get big picture enough.

Which purpose, specifically?
How do you feel about the Hogan/Thiel Gawker lawsuit/victory?

Why do we feel it's cool to use it as a weapon against enemies, and not to simply impartially find justice from harm done.
The parties settled, Fox could have gone to trial. I think they had a shot of winning at trial.

Only on this board could FOX admit they were wrong - and do it to the tune of 800 million mother fricking dollars - and still have you lemmings carrying their water trying to make excuses for their mistake
So your stupid arse thinks Dominion executives admitting to security flaws and vulnerabilities is "carrying [Fox's] water?" I don't give two shits about Fox News. I do care that we use the worst election software on the planet, apparently.

You mean, the discovery that had the VICE PRESIDENT OF TECHNOLOGY at Dominion saying their software was garbage and easily hackable?

Oh 100%. It's a simpleton argument for progs to make as well regarding "real media".
I mean, it could, but one would think the industry-wide response to this would be more stringent vetting guidelines, returning to the traditional media standard.

What SFP said...friend, you're the one in the bubble and you're resisting getting out with "questions".

Lou Dobbs created most of this. He would editorialize as part of his question. Bartiromo would do much of the same but would stop short of being a cheerleader. Dobbs saw the line and raced right over it.
Second thing I learned when I got out of law school. Money is how corporations and big business say " ok I am somewhat responsible" First was the practice of Law has nothing to do with the law

This is their attempt to get ahead of future developments, shut down continuing discussion about the matter, and preemptively generate rebuttals against Trump's continued coverage of the matter.

Forget about this court that you are hiding behind. I'm out here in the "court of public opinion". You have a compliant media to tell your side want to think, but since I'm not Mika and Joe, and I'm not going to feed you what you want to hear... why don't you go ahead and show me the actual proof or context that Fox made slanderous comments towards Dominion? This should be pretty simple for someone of your acumen and skill level, to put my lowly hick-arse in my place. Go ahead and find me the quote!

Explain in context what the Fox hosts said about Dominion that is considered slander? Provide one quote, don't hide behind some court decision or a CNN article to form your opinion, give me the actual substance.

They settled, so this isn't even relevant anymore.
I think that's the issue you don't grasp.
Just because having this trial threatened FNC more than settling doesn't make it some conspiracy.
Discovery killed FNC and would have completely destroyed the entire network.

This outcome sure makes Dominion look as pure as snow.
Who would question them now.

What did I say that you disagree with Slo?
Posted on 4/20/23 at 1:27 pm to goatmilker
It doesn't make Dominion look like anything other than 3/4 of a B richer. The merits were not decided at trial so it's hard to judge something that didn't happen.

jake, why would Fox agree to allow the terms of the settlement to become public?
seems off to me.

I imagine Dominion demanded that.
As others have said, this is leverage for the litany of other suits they still have pending.

The discovery that included Dominion employees making very similar statements to what Fox News hosts said or something else?
