I disagree.
I've known and worked for several great people who claimed Islam as their faith. Now, most weren't too dogmatic about it, but it was still their faith.
ETA: Personally, I wish the whole world were Buddhist. Never hear about Buddhists starting shite, do you?

People need to remember: Islam would not be a religion without violence. The only reason it spread and dominated the Arabian peninsula is because Muhammad was a ruthless warchief who forced tribes and villages he conquered to convert or die.
It's not an "organic" religion like Christianity or Buddhism or Hinduism- which spread through teachings and sermons and communal learning. The tree of Islam has its roots in military conquest and subjugation.
