Republicans and Democrats are playing chicken with who goes nuclear first. If one side uses it, the other will go hog wild with it when the power shifts (the power will shift).

NO! Republicans have the advantage right here and the Democrats are shooting themselves in the foot.
It’s a bad look for the Dems to shut down the government for illegals. Let them own it.
If the Republicans use the nuclear option, they now become controversial and the fingers can be pointed at them and the Democrats are saved.

If they know they can get 51 votes then they should pass a long term government spending bill and add voting ID to the bill. They can’t use the nuclear option with out a bill with voter ID . That would keep the illegals from putting the democrats in power .

It’s been used twice now; once by Dems and once by the GOP.
Dems used it to end filibuster against Obama nominations and judicial appointments (except for the Supreme Court.)
GOP used it to end the above exception and put Gorsuch on the SC.
It’s never been used for legislation though.
