Many who are part of the successful group that that article and survey talks about are the ones who followed the age old ideas of how to become successful through hard work and a strong work ethic. There aren't "new" problems that require new solutions. The prescription for success is the same one that has been around for generations, it's just that many don't like how the prescription tastes so they refuse to follow it and blame others.

The pseudo-educated with easily obtained degrees that covey little to no practical knowledge. But they think they’re elites.

I do assume that, yes. There are a few enemies, like George Soros, who want to tear the whole thing down, but they are a very small minority. Most of the reason for illegal immigration is incentives.
The lower class in America are disincentivized from working by a generous welfare system. Immigrants are obviously incentivized to come by attractive earnings. Businesses are incentivized to hire the illegals because they get practically indentured servants. And politicians were incentivized to facilitate it because the it brings votes to the democrats and money to the republicans.
