Very interesting, but Trump is a more polarizing figure and this is a more polarizing age, such that I doubt you will see the range of upward movement you saw with Reagan and Obama. What I wonder is what Trump's popular vote ceiling is. I suspect it is around 50 assuming no meaningful third party candidates.

For those who don't remember he didn't start hitting back until it was too late.

HW was not a good campaigner and his team did nothing to help.
