I still remember Tucker Carlson showering praise on this dude not too long ago:

Starting on February 1, the prices of milk, sugar, flour, sunflower oil, leg of pork, and chicken breast will be rolled back to last year's October 15 levels. Hungary has endured record inflation across sectors since the end of October.

Gergely Gulyás, the head of the prime minister's office, announced that the measures are currently slated to last for three months. However, that timetable could be extended if Orbán so chooses.

Orban is the greatest leader in and best hope for Europe. That stupid bastard Biden's policies have not only caused 7%+ inflation for the US but it is also effecting economies worldwide.

Mistake.

I'm sure he has noble intentions to help his people, but wage and price controls never work.

True...but perhaps 3 months will show the citizenry calling for it that it isn't the solution. Hopefully they have a good plan to come out of the hiccups it may cause.

At this point...what can be done to help a country like this?

CV reaction definitely created a whole new economic reaction/theory to correct it....but what is it? Especially when the one country that has been the shining light for so long hasn't figured it out, and has a worthless leader at the helm. So will be a few years before we may see it.

Inflation is caused by too much money chasing too few goods. Creating price controls will limit the amount of goods produced, creating more inflation.

Well, maybe what the guy was doing at that time deserved praise.

But not this time

Are you really comparing China's State controlled economy to Hungary's?

Really?

Yep.

What he should be doing is fostering production, getting rid of impediments to business and trade, and opening up the supply chain's log jams.

Higher prices tend to foster more producers entering the market causing the prices to go down.

Great. So instead of things being expensive now they will just run out.
