These are modern issues of our nation. I'm talking foundational requirements for a state--recognized territory, natural resources, a healthy labor force, governmental legitimacy and rule of law, national cohesion, and armed force capable of defending vital interests and maintaining territorial integrity.

Look up some of the world's current failed states and you'll see what I mean.

By evolution rather than revolution. The federal government will continue to grow, and uniform laws for the entire country will become more prevalent than separate laws for each of the states. The country will transition from a union of 50, or however many, states to a single peoples republic.

How exactly does that "end" the nation?

Our country will break apart into three small countries due to political turmoil which leads to another economic meltdown:

1. New England
2. Pacifica (California, Oregon and Washington)
3. New America which includes the South, Midwest and Plain States

Trade and commerce will continue between these nations, but will have it's own congress, military etc.

I see this happening in the next 50 years.

I already told you. There are things that a nation needs. Foundational. Real. Tangible things. It's not an idea. When you say the US will "end", you need to explain exactly what will change between now and that end that precipitates the end. We have arable land, a positive population growth rate, abundant natural resources, a potential military manpower pool approaching 75 million, a 200M strong labor force, two friendly neighbors, two Oceans separating us from other powers, and more economic, political, and military power than any other nation in history (except our earlier selves). Why do you think we're about to go from that to dissolution? Because of hispanics? A couple of thousand angry blacks and liberals in a few cities? Assholes complaining on the internet? Why?

If you mean that some idea of what America is or was or should have been will "end," you can pretty much declare the US dead anytime you want. God knows someone in every generation has been doing it since at least the 1830s.

Where did I say I thought it was going to happen?

My answer would be A; we're going to "apathy away" until there's nothing left that's worthwhile; until we become irrelevant (irrelevant and "the end" are the same for this thread).

We're the third largest and third most populous country in the world. We're also the wealthiest and most powerful. It's going to take a while to go from that to irrelevant. The European Great powers have been bleeding influence for 100 years and they're still relevant.

Took Rome about...2-300 years to fall ( I start at the split of East and west). Almost 500 if you consider the end of the republic as the begining of the end.

We got a while.
