The elephant in the room RE: a "trade war" with China. $1.2 TRILLION of Treasuries

Plus, the fact that we already fricked them out of 2 TRILLION after WWII shows them that we ain't scared to tell them to go pound sand.

It took China just 11 hours to retaliate against the United States for proposing tariffs on some 1,300 Chinese products, but Chinese officials are holding back on taking aim at their largest American import: government debt. In a tit-for-tat response to the Trump administration’s plan for 25 percent duties on $50 billion of Chinese imports, China hit back with its own list of similar duties on key American imports including soybeans, planes, cars, beef and chemicals. But officials signaled no interest for now in bringing their vast holdings of U.S. Treasuries to the fight.

China held around $1.17 trillion of Treasuries as of the end of January, making it the largest of America's foreign creditors and the No. 2 overall owner of U.S. government bonds after the Federal Reserve. Any move by China to chop its Treasury portfolio could inflict significant harm on U.S. finances and global investors, driving bond yields higher and making it more costly to finance the federal government.(Graphic: Top U.S. trade partners & foreign holders of Treasuries - reut.rs/2CUqQB0)
quote:
Jeffrey Gundlach, the chief executive of DoubleLine Capital LP, said China can use its Treasury holdings as leverage, but only if they keep holding them. “It is more effective as a threat. If they sell, they have no threat,” said Gundlach, known as Wall Street’s Bond King. “It would only escalate the situation and eliminate their leverage.”

frick China, thieving little bastaeds stealing U.S. innovations for years. The 1.2 trillion is a nice down payment on the crimes and headache they have committed against us

I’m going to guess that you’re dumb enough to think we fought China in WWII.
Actually, how else am I supposed to interpret this? Since there’s no way you can spell either of them, I’ll link the Rape of Nanking and the Doolittle Raid for you.
God, this is retarded even for you.

You think we cheered on their communist revolution AFTER WWII?
WHat part of "after" did you miss?

Where in the entire frick did I say we fought China in WWII?
Are you retarded or something? Are you off of your meds?

So out of $20 trillion in debt, China only holds $1.2?
I must be missing something.

Because within that context, it doesn’t mean the immediate aftermath. Let me give you a lesson in English 101 since you’re apparently sorely lacking in grammar skills
“After WWII, why would we give Japan a nuke?”
Does this mean Japan did something supremely fricked up after WWII that implies they shouldn’t get a nuke? No, it’s what they did DURING WWII which means we shouldn’t give them the benefit of the doubt again.

China can't sell our debt without tanking their own economy. The reason China holds the U.S. bonds is to prop up the yuan. A sell off would hurt us, but it would absolutely devastate China.

The reason China hasn't sold our bonds is the #1 rule to selling ANYTHING.
You can't sell shite unless you have someone willing to pay the price you're asking for whatever it is you're trying to sell.
In regards to bonds, one needs the other equally.

We write off the debt of other nations every year. Let's just write off our own debt and start over.

How come you didn't finish that sentence with any punctuation?

No, he should have said “since WWII” not “after WWII”. The “since” implies the time between then and now. The “after” implies things they did before and our reaction to it.
Making WWII the mark in the “after” comment objectively stupid. China was our ally, so at best he butchered the English language. At least say the Korean War so you don’t confuse the educated with your bullshite. And after the dumb shite he and you have said, it’s typically a safe assumption to assume the worst:

We’re in the cell phone age. I didn’t do the colon. Who cares?

China would have to be ready to take a substantial loss if they dumped their debt. They're buying our debt so we can continue to buy their imports.
They're pregnant whether they like it or not.

You didn't do the period either.

You misread it dude. He didn’t commit some grammatical breakdown. Take your loss graciously rather than double/triple/quadruple down. Look at all your downvotes

How do you say “getting our shite pushed back in” in Mandarin?
