I find it surprising how surprised you are about that small of an advertising expense.

I distinguish advertising from post boosting. You know advertisers are paying to sell something. Paying to boost content on FB is different. Different in the fact that Ben's posts are not genuine popularity. His company he works for pays Face Book for his posts to be popular.

He pays facebook because he owns his own platform.
The alternative would be paying youtube who demonetizes his show.

Facebook drives an audience to the daily wire. There is a visual return on the investment from facebook.

My guy, you’ve already admitted you weren’t familiar with social media advertising. Just stop. This isn’t the gotcha you think it is on Shapiro. If someone isn’t doing this, they aren’t being seen on Facebook. Daily Wire does this for all of their hosts.

The idea of a podcast clip going viral on Facebook without post boosting simply isn’t realistic. People who have done social media advertising understand this. Everything changed with Apple’s ATT.

Also, the idea Shapiro is only popular because he “bought fame” is really silly. The guy has the top ranked conservative podcast on Apple Podcasts. You can dislike the guy, but a shite ton of people still listen to his show every day.

Good for you, but marketing doesn’t. They are paying to spread their reach beyond current subscribers.

When the Candace Owens thing hit, Greenwald talked about DW and how Shapiro's rise has been tied to various billionaires and that it is not so 'organic'. He also said that part of DW's rise was how much traction it got on Facebook and he said Shapiro was able to get meetings with Zuckerberg and grease the skids a bit, and facilitate DW on Facebook. Makes you ask some questions.

On Danny Haiphon's youtube channel, he has a video with a guy named Lowkey. I don't know anything about him but if his claims are factual, he lays out a pretty good case for Shapiro being more like an Israeli military asset than Thinker / Intellectual.

Video is about 20min long. Dude spits out a lot of stuff. He explains a lot of "convergence" around Shapiro and DW. Some points are:
- DW heavily sponsored by a VPN owned by an Israeli billionaire, who also donates money to help Israeli military. CEO is a guy that is a veteran of Israeli intell unit, the unit that ran into a hospital disguised as Palestinians and killed people.
- Before DW, Shapiro was funded by a billionaire (Shilman) that is on the board of 'Friends of the IDF' that funnels money from the US to IDF.
- Shapiro was a Shilman Fellow at David Horowitz Freedom Center, and Horowitz is known for zealous advocacy for Israel, bullying students in that cause etc, according to Lowkey.
- Shapiro and Boreing helped set up Praeger University youtube channel. Open Israel lobbyist. During this effort, they worked with/under a woman that was part of Israeli intelligence.
- So many connections to IDF and he says that most states have a military but some people say that Israel is a military that has a state.
- Mentions an article Shapiro wrote in 2003 stating that Israel should be allowed to transfer Palestinians to another location and that transfer is not genocide. This is given as an example of how Shapiro is always on the side of various Israeli policies.
- Early days of DW, millions came from Wilks Brothers, billionaires. They are pro-Israel.
And more...

Just a series of connections is what he lays out. Make of it what you will.

App Tracking Transparency

Basically once a user leaves Facebook and enters the App Store, Facebook can no longer track what happens next. That means it is basically impossible to track ROI.

Once it went into place, Facebook tried furiously to adjust their algorithm to account for this and all they did was basically break their own algorithm. It became extremely difficult to advertise on Facebook during this period. I assume that has been fixed now but it was a major issue at the time.

Since then though, you have to promote posts for them to show up on someone’s feed. Even if they “Like” your page, your content will not show up on their news feed unless they promote the content.

People who spent years organically building up pages, lost their hard work overnight. Everything was pay for play and still is.

Big tech censorship is a large problem for actual conservatives that aren't Israel First. Ben Shapiro helps fund this censorship. He's just part of the uniparty right. See the problem now? It has nothing to do with Trump, so I doubt you do.

Can you even trust a conservative commentator that hasn't been kicked off youtube?

I work for an advertising agency and I can vouch for the shite ton of money spent on social media for this type of crap.

I was also surprised how much your run-of-the-mill travel vloggers charge to come visit a city or state. They look "spontaneous" and "ordinary", but they charge 25K to 50K for 1 to 3 days of travel time.

The only guy with real true talent on that network is Michael Knowles. Fox News should give him a late late show, he'd kill it.
