New Army policy requires officers enrolled in the Captains Career Courses (CCC) to take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE), a computer-administered test used by many graduate programs to assess potential applicants.

quote:

The new requirement for the officers to take the GRE during the Captains Career Courses is part of the Army's talent management approach to acquire, develop, employ, and retain officers who meet current and future Army talent demands.

The GRE requirement for officers enrolled in the CCC course is the first step to:

Establish a robust culture of assessments across the Army.

Gather more information about the talent of the officer corps.

Ensure the Army is making the best investment decisions for future readiness.

The Army will use the results of the GRE to make more informed decisions with regards to competitive advanced education programs. The Army is fully funding the cost for each student to take the GRE.

I don’t think the Army knows wtf it’s doing to itself. It’s basically going to show how retarded about 75% of the Officer Corps is. Branches like chemical, quartermaster, transportation, ordnance, etc all have Officers that are barely literate. This should produce some outstanding results.

I’m also very interested to see how USMA vs ROTC/OCS alumni score on the testing.

My Army started having problems under Clinton and it got worse under Bush and it completely went to political shite under Obama.

They're trying to make a comeback now, and they will, provided Trump gets a second term.

All branches were affected during the same time frame but the Army really took it on the chin because Obama really targeted the Army to make it more socially aware and understanding and forgiving.

Now, my old units like the 82nd Airborne Division are still fairly strack and hard charging as are the Rangers. But there are some units out there that have been turned into SJW breeding grounds for females and fat boys.

Old Ronald Reagan days was whole different story early 80's as they thought we would fight Iran. late 80's especially 89 they thought we would possibly be going into China. I believe there was tension back around May of 89. Then they had a huge downsizing. They gave alot of the Vietnam era guys a nice retirement package right around 1985 up to right before desert storm. Funny part they tried to call some of them back around August of 1990.

That's a good start but return the standards for physical fitness.

During ILE (at least when I went through) they required a reading and writing aptitude test prior to the start of coursework. On average, 10-15% of the class had to go through remedial training as a result. This is a group of MAJORS...

That is extremely disheartening. How many of them were combat arms? Somehow I don’t think many of them were..........

CCC is what replaced the Officer Advanced Course.

I think USMA will test higher because on average I believe they are more “book smart.” However, today’s USMA graduates are mouth breathers when it comes to Armying.

I’m surprised it’s that low. The 9 years I was in I ran across numerous officers who couldn’t put together two sentences coherently. I was in Aviation too which has a much higher quality of Officer.

Can confirm. We had a captain in our brigade who even the officers referred to as “Radio”. He’s a major now.

Source: I was a transportation Captain.
