Good question - and is why we need more data about the antibodies.

Antibody detection requires a blood test from what I’m told.

Add to this reports bubbling up on social media that follow up positives are being double counted, untested symptomatic patients are counted as positives, and people who sign up but don't take the tests are presumed positive.

I'm sure JBE will be all over this to ensure that Louisiana doesn't have any of that counted into the numbers he is using to ruin people's lives.

More news locally from two young doctors at my gym.

The 'free testing' sites have massive positives when the results are negative. If one employee in an office of 10 tests positive the other 9 people are registered as positive even though they're not.

The data being reported is worthless.

I don't think he is talking abput antibodies. I think there is question about whether or not the PCR test detects small amounts (really, the remains) of dead virus and then magnifies that into a positive test and "new case".

There is a poster in this thread who says it just detects live virus. He may be correct.

There are 2 tests. One for antibodies (you used to have it) and the other for active (you've got it now).
The college football players who are being labeled positive at the rate of about 20 per team were given antibody tests.

The tests are worthless. It reads the common cold as covid-19.

I assume the PCR test only detects live virus.

I just read into it some more, and the description of RT-PCR is just that it detects the virus. Does that mean only "living" virus? Is there such a thing as "dead" virus, still present in the cells?

Either way, it's acknowledged that the PCR test works by making 35 billion copies of the transcribed DNA, so it definitely can and will detect virus in people who had very little of the virus and aren't in danger of being sick, and if this virus was like all others, wouldn't be likely to infect others.

If you pay attention to the daily numbers....especially deaths vs positive cases, etc. We are beginning to kick the virus' arse. We know what to look for and how to start treating it.

But no one speaks of that....no, it's all the wussies getting the press
