Reminds me of the 1989 Chilean grape scare where the FDA supposedly found two grapes containing cyanide.

Unfortunately this seems to be the typical goverment doing what they feel like, and no one had better stand in the way.

Personally I'm pretty sick of all these damn agencies that are now allowed to have their own armies. It just goes to show that when the law will not allow the goverment to use military force in certain situations they will just figure out another way to skirt around it.

Create enough agencies, departments, and Bureaus and your set. Give them weapons, and law enforcement powers and you have your own private army. Damn...... Sounds like Germany in the 30's

Well you didn't think that the Feds would let all that stockpiled ammo go to waste did you?

Exactly. When mercenaries are being hired to intervene, something is terribly wrong in our country.

Yup.. I'm waiting for OSHA who has the power to enforce laws to get their own army. To hell with fines. We'd be talking full blown military envasions due to some poor guy not wearing his ear plugs.

I want this to end peacefully but I don't see any way it can or will without the BLM and the hired guns backing down.

Sadly I totally agree with you. I have had an uneasy feeling that this is going to turn out pretty bad. Why else would you kill cell towers, block roads, and issue no fly zones over an area. If no one sees it, then nothing happened. Can make up whatever lie they want to cover it up.

I'll add a little to this for Rex to get educated. I seriously doubt he will read all of this but it's an effort to educate him on what the Bundy guy is trying to show is the problem.

The Equal Footing Doctrine is supposed to insure that all states were equal in their sovereign power. Article I, Section 8 specified how the federal government might acquire land and the purposes for which it could be acquired from the states. The 10th Amendment further declared that powers not explicitly granted to the federal government were retained by the states and the people. The federal government owns about 98 percent of the land in Alaska and about 86 percent of Nevada land. Overall, the feds own 65 percent of all the Western land. Where is the Equal Footing Doctrine?

LINK

The Federal Government claims ownership of nearly 650 Million acres of land! Heck this out…86% of Nevada is “owned by one branch of the Federal government or another. How can this be justified. “You are a state but you don’t have any land.”

BLM came in a systematically ran off all of the other ranchers. Why? How? They made unreasonable demands. For example, they demanded that the ranchers reduce their herds to such small numbers that the ranchers would not be able to sustain their ranches. In Bundy’s case, they wanted him to reduce his heard to 150. This would drive him out. His changes to the land (roads, water supply, etc.) were done with the BLM’s permission and approval). He owns the water rights. So this guy has been working his family’s ranch since he was a kid. The BLM decided that they want this land for whatever reason and they changed the rules to push him out.

Have any of you read the case of E. Wayne Hage? He is someone VERY similar to Bundy. The BLM filed suit against Hage for his cattle trespassing on federal land. The Judge crushed BLM and set an important precedent relative to “ranchers’ rights and historical grazing practices.”

LINK

The Feds were also found in contempt for intimidation and harassment:

LINK

The point of all of this is quite simple. The State's land was not allowed to belong to the state when it was admitted as a state. For whatever reason, the Feds have not "allowed" the majority of the Western states to be admitted with equal rights or standing. Bundy is correct when he states that this is state land.

The county Sheriff CAN run off the federal officers if he chooses.

"Biohzrd" actually addressed several of the points I was going to include, especially about grazing rights. BLM's own fact sheets and website (some of which has actually been taken down) contradicts their won policies and mission statements. My links support "Biohzrd's" statements.

To Biohzrd....

Also, if the Feds did indeed try to buy out Bundy, wouldn't that very act prove that Bundy and not the Feds owned the land? That type of communication should be easy to provide by Bundy.

They won't be able to hide what goes down over there. If it's ugly...it'll be the start of a real and no-holds-barred, anti-Government movement. And it'll get a ton of support. Tacit, or otherwise. And IMHO...warranted.

Power CORRUPTS. Obviously. Pray that them in the bureaucracies don't go the Nazi way...and just "follow orders". It's going to hell if they do.

So, you agree that a man should be able to freeload on Federal property and then threaten law officers when they come to enforce the law? Really?

The BLM has bent over backwards... for 20 years... in dealing with Mr. Bundy. Finally after years of leniency, in fairness to other ranchers who dutifully paid their fees and to recreational groups whose use is threatened by Mr. Bundy's cows, they said enough is enough.

Has nothing to do with turtles, you idiot.

The guy has refused to pay taxes for over 20 years...and is threatening an insurrection against the federal government.

He's a nut who belongs in jail.

I'm glad the government is going to confiscate his cattle.

No, it won't.

Most reasonable people will see it for what it is...a few anti-government nuts defending a tax scofflaw.
